NATIONWIDE U ALUM NICK CUMMINGS SHARES HIS STORY!

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: NATIONWIDE U ALUM NICK CUMMINGS SHARES HIS STORY!

The AV industry is always evolving so constant education and growth is of the utmost importance.  We wanted to share the story of a Buffalo, NY based Nationwide University alumni and freelance video engineer Nick Cummings.

NW: Nick, thank you for joining us. Can you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your background in the AV industry?

Nick Cummings: Hello, it’s great to be here. I’m Nick Cummings, and I’ve been immersed in the AV industry for quite a while. I’m based in Buffalo, NY, and I consider myself a video jack of all trades. While I’m skilled in various aspects of video engineering, my specialties lie in Projection, Media Servers, and Image Processors, particularly E2. Though I’ve spent many years in the AV space, it’s only been within the past year that I’ve ventured into freelancing.

NW: That’s impressive, Nick. Could you share some highlights from your recent experiences in the field?

Nick Cummings: Certainly. One of the most notable experiences was my involvement in the Tipping Point II Tour for Tears for Fears. I served as the Disguise Op and Projectionist for that tour, and it was an incredible experience. The crew I worked alongside were fantastic, and the entire tour left me with so much valuable knowledge.

NW: We were really excited to hear that you got that amazing opportunity. Can you share a little bit about how you got that opportunity?

Nick Cummings: Absolutely. I owe a significant part of my skills and success to Kevin Ring at Nationwide University. He was the one who introduced me to the world of disguise media servers, and his guidance provided me with the necessary tools to excel on the Tipping Point II Tour. Specifically, the projection elements of Disguise that Kevin taught me were incredibly beneficial for the role I was in.

Nick Cummings: Nationwide University has been a game-changer for me. I’ve taken six courses at this point. The classes have been immensely valuable in honing my skills and knowledge. Kevin Ring’s teaching style is highly engaging, and he ensures that his students not only grasp the material but also get plenty of hands-on practice. After completing a course with him, I leave with a strong command of the skillset, which empowers me to confidently book gigs right away.
